Microsoft is putting in $10 million (€8.6 million) to build a data center in Sines, Portugal, called Start Campus. They are working with a company named Nscale to set up 12,600 Nvidia GPUs by early 2026. Brad Smith, the company’s president, called this one of the biggest investments in AI computing in Europe. This helps Portugal become a key place for strong, safe, and eco-friendly AI technology.
This step makes Portugal more important in the world of tech, but there are still questions.
Will this money help create jobs and develop local talent, or will it mainly be about building more hardware and infrastructure?
