Five9's CEO, Mike Burkland, is stepping down from his role after many years of leading the company through important growth periods. He will stay as CEO until a new leader is chosen and will also continue as Executive Chairman to help with the change.
The company's board has started looking for a new CEO nationwide, with the goal of finding someone by the end of 2025.
Burkland first became CEO in 2008 and helped the company grow from $10 million in revenue to over $1 billion. He left in 2017 to focus on cancer treatment but came back in 2022 to lead important changes in strategy.
Even though his treatment is still working, Burkland feels it's time for a more balanced lifestyle.
He said, "It's been an honor to lead Five9. I'm proud of what we've achieved and excited about the company's future. "
The board thanked Burkland for his leadership and said the new CEO will need to push for innovation, strong operations, and take advantage of the growing market for customer experiences powered by AI.
