CTS Group Unveils Europe's Largest Data Center Production Hub in Viana do Castelo

The CTS Group, led in Portugal by Carlos Ribas, is heavily investing in transforming the country into a European hub for the data center industry.

The Norwegian group aims to create over 2,000 jobs through large-scale initiatives, beginning with the construction of its largest technology production center in Viana do Castelo - an ambitious complex spanning over 20,000 square meters and generating 500 direct jobs. Once operational, the facility will serve Central and Southern Europe, with potential for exports to other regions.

The location of Viana do Castelo was chosen strategically.

Situated less than a kilometer from the city’s port, the site offers ideal logistical and industrial conditions for large-scale exports. Every product from this center will carry the “Designed and Made in Portugal” label, reflecting CTS’s direct investment in the country’s industrial growth. Construction is already underway, with completion expected in early 2026.

According to CTS, the unit will function as a multifunctional European hub, producing electrical power modules (EPODs), electrical panels, and modular assembly components.

The EPOD production will be developed in partnership with Eaton, the American multinational. “This project is a decisive step in our long-term expansion plan and demonstrates our confidence in Portugal’s geostrategic location and exceptional talent,” said Carlos Ribas, adding that the initiative will strengthen Portugal’s position as a center of excellence for the data center industry in Europe.
