Thales is looking to bring on 200 new people in Portugal as part of a big hiring push. They're aiming to fill over 9,000 jobs worldwide. Thales, which works in defense, aerospace, cybersecurity, and digital ID, already has over 400 employees in Portugal.
These new jobs in Portugal will mostly be for engineers. Thales wants to strengthen its local teams in areas like naval engineering, air traffic control, and cybersecurity. The company has a Naval Engineering Center that works on Combat Management Systems, an Air Traffic Management Engineering Center for air mobility, and a Security Operations Center (SOC) in Porto. Plus, the Santa Maria Teleport in the Azores offers satellite communications and navigation for European space missions and maritime security.

In 2025, they want to hire over 3,300 people in France, 800 in the UK, 630 in North America, 530 in Australia, over 100 in Spain, and 200 in Portugal. About 40% of these new jobs will be for engineers in fields like systems, software, cybersecurity, AI, and data. Another 25% will be in industrial and technical roles.
Thales has over 83,000 people working in 68 countries. In 2024, they brought in €20.6 billion in revenue. They've been in Portugal for 35 years.
