Tekever Expands to Aveiro After Leiria Hub Success

Portugal’s newest unicorn, Tekever, is spreading its wings again. After opening a hub in Leiria earlier this year, the drone maker has now set up operations in the University of Aveiro’s Science and Innovation Park. The move deepens ties with the region’s talent pool, especially in electronics and information systems, where Tekever sees strong collaboration potential.

In Leiria, the company already employs 50 people and plans to double that by early next year, creating around 30 new jobs. The hub is home to Tekever’s 1,000th employee and focuses on cutting-edge engineering, from component design to product testing.

The choice of Leiria was no accident: Tekever points to its strong academic network, industrial ecosystem, and central location. The company has also built close links with the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where many of its professionals studied. With sites across Portugal, plus major investments in the UK, Ukraine, and France, Tekever is firmly positioning itself as a global drone leader.
