Huawei's R&D center in Israel, known as Toga Networks, is letting go of about 50 people in its cloud section. This amounts to over 12% of its 400 local workers. These layoffs are part of a reorganization to work more efficiently and sharpen business goals.
Even with these cuts, Huawei is still hiring in other departments. The Hod Hasharon center, which Huawei bought in 2016, is still an tech research and development center outside of China. It works on communications infrastructure, cloud services, AI parts, and previously data storage systems. Some of the workers who are affected might find new roles in other parts of the company as part of these changes.
