Ford Motor is requiring most of its salaried employees to return to the office four days per week, aiming to boost both employee and company performance. A spokesperson said the policy, effective September 1, applies to the majority of Ford’s global salaried workforce but didn’t specify exact numbers. This move comes as companies worldwide continue to balance remote work flexibility post-pandemic. Competitors like JPMorgan and Amazon have enforced five-day office returns, while General Motors faced backlash for a similar policy but later softened its stance. Ford is also tightening bonus and attendance policies to compete with EV leaders like Tesla and attract talent from more flexible Silicon Valley firms. Earlier this year, Ford cut stock bonuses for many middle managers to encourage better performance.
