BYD has reached a milestone of over 3,200 Plug-In Super Hybrid sales in Portugal, just over two years after introducing its DM-i (Dual Mode Intelligent) technology to the national market.
Expanding DM-i Lineup in Portugal
BYD’s Super Plug-In Hybrid range in Portugal features four distinct models designed for various driver preferences:
- SEAL U DM-i: The brand's inaugural hybrid SUV in Portugal, offering up to 125 km of electric range and a combined range of up to 1,125 km.
- SEAL 6 DM-i: Available in Sedan and Touring versions, featuring an electric range of up to 105 km (Sedan) or 100 km (Touring) and a total driving range reaching up to 1,455 km.
- ATTO 2 DM-i: A compact SUV with up to 90 km of pure electric range, a combined total range of up to 1,000 km, and weighted fuel consumption of just 1.8 l/100 km.
- DOLPHIN G DM-i: The latest addition introducing BYD's next-gen DM 5.0 technology to Europe. It delivers over 100 km of electric range, up to 1,040 km combined range, and supports 39 kW DC fast-charging (10% to 80% in 26 minutes).

How Electric-Centric DM-i Tech Works
BYD's Dual Mode Intelligent (DM-i) technology uses an electric-centric design. The powertrain prioritizes electric driving whenever battery charge is sufficient. When the battery drains, the gasoline engine starts up primarily to function as a generator—contributing direct mechanical drive only during high-power situations.
