Senior Storage Administrator – Backup and Data Recovery Expert

Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).

As a Senior Storage Administrator, you will be working for our client, a leading organization in data management and IT infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, security, and efficiency of backup and recovery processes across multiple sites. This position offers an exciting chance to innovate with cutting-edge storage technologies and lead complex data management operations, driving operational excellence and data resilience.

Your main responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain operational high-availability of 10 TSM servers across 3 sites, ensuring optimal backup and recovery processes.
• Define, implement, and monitor storage retention policies, improving data lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage, backup, and recovery issues in a multi-environment setup involving AIX, Linux, and VMware.
• Develop and update comprehensive documentation for storage and backup procedures to maintain operational clarity.
• Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, DBA, and business teams to deliver seamless data protection solutions.
• Propose and lead improvements to existing procedures, ensuring compliance with best practices and organizational standards.
• Perform restores, audits, and system health monitoring to ensure data integrity and recoverability.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in storage administration, backup management, or data recovery.
• Expert knowledge of IBM Storage Protect (Version >8) on AIX and Linux environments.
• Hands-on experience with Storage Protect for VE and VMware.
• Deep understanding of backup protocols such as S3 and NDMP.
• Strong scripting skills in Shell, Python, and SQL.
• Proficiency with IBM tape libraries and tape management.
• Experience with DB2 SQL scripting and RMAN or TDP for databases.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, capable of diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Certifications or experience with DELL, IBM, Hitachi storage solutions.
• Knowledge of IBM Power Systems (AIX and Linux on Power).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, change, and service management.

Language Required for the role:

• English, communicative level (B2-C1)
