Thirteen groups of students from different schools in Portugal will show their new mobile apps at the Portugal Digital Summit, which happens on October 22nd and 23rd.
This is part of the App Start Up program under the Apps for Good initiative, organized by CDI Portugal. The program helps young entrepreneurs link up with incubators, investors, and companies to turn classroom ideas into real projects that help society. These apps deal with important issues like mental health, protecting the environment, being good citizens, education, eco-friendly travel, and taking care of animals.
João Baracho, the executive director of CDI Portugal, said, "The Portugal Digital Summit is a special chance for young people to show their talent and creativity, and to connect with the country's entrepreneurial and tech community."
Some of the apps being shown include StaySafe, which helps with emotional support during emergencies; GreenHouseEffect, which gets young people involved in fighting climate change; EnergySave, which encourages using solar power; We Care!, which helps people with dementia and their families; and Zero Waste, which promotes a circular economy. Other apps focus on helping people fit in better, making travel more sustainable, caring for animals, and managing schools.
During the summit, students will take part in pitch events and meetups like Connect with People, where they can chat with tech experts about digital innovation, cybersecurity, diversity in tech, and what the future of work will look like.
The Apps for Good program encourages students to use technology to make the world a better place. CDI Portugal leads efforts in the country to support digital inclusion and encourage innovation led by young people.
