Portugal’s edition of the Startup World Cup (SWC)—the world’s largest global startup pitch competition—has extended its application deadline to August 15. Organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based VC firm with $2B under management, the event offers startups a chance to win a $1 million investment at the Grand Finale in San Francisco this October.
The regional competition will be held on September 10–11 at Unicorn Factory Lisbon, a hub for innovation and investment. Out of 50 pre-selected startups, 15 finalists will be chosen to compete for the national title after pitching to a panel of judges, including Teresa Fiúza (Banco Português de Fomento), Gil Azevedo (Unicorn Factory), Cláudia Machado (Grupo Brisa), and António Grilo (ANI).
The winner will go on to represent Portugal on the global stage, competing against startups from over 70 countries. SWC Portugal is supported by INCM (platinum sponsor), with additional sponsorship from Brisa Group, Galp, Fidelidade, Sogrape, and others. The event is organized by Linhas Comunicação and Fast Track Ventures, with Unicorn Factory and GMC as official partners.
