PwC and Deloitte to Close Belval Offices by Year-End

Two of the Big Four firms are winding down operations in Luxembourg’s south. PwC confirmed it will close its Belval office in November, while Deloitte will shutter its own site in the area on 5 December. Both firms cited low occupancy as the main reason behind the decision.

PwC, which opened the Belval location in 2020 as part of a wider satellite strategy, still operates seven other secondary offices across the country. “Esch-Belval is not being used sufficiently, so we decided to close it, while continuing to explore more strategic locations,” said Dominique Laurent, PwC Luxembourg’s head of real estate. The firm maintains that satellites remain central to its workplace model.

Deloitte’s Belval office, launched in 2018 with room for 230 staff, was its only secondary base in Luxembourg. The firm’s spokesperson said the move aligns with its philosophy of bringing employees “under the same roof” at its Cloche d’Or headquarters, which has space for more than 2,700 staff. Both firms continue to emphasize flexible working, but will focus future expansion closer to Luxembourg City.
