Portugal Ventures, a venture capital firm under Banco Português de Fomento (BPF), has launched the second edition of Call Leiria Crescimento to foster company growth in the Leiria region. Applications are open until January 12, 2025, with investments ranging from €250,000 to €1.5 million per project.
Pedro de Mello Breyner, executive member of Portugal Ventures, highlights the initiative’s goal to capitalize on Leiria’s innovation potential. “We aim to invest in start-ups across sectors like Digital & Technology, Industry & Technology, Health Technologies, and Tourism,” he explains.
The first edition drew 47 applications requesting €32.1 million in funding. Projects primarily focused on Digital and Industrial Technology, with initial investments already in the pipeline.
Selected companies will receive funding from the "Região de Leiria Crescimento" Venture Capital Fund, part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Who Can Apply?
- Companies in seed, start-up, or Series A-C phases.
- Firms must operate or plan to set up in the Leiria Intermunicipal Community (CIMRL).
- Projects must be innovative, growth-oriented, and economically viable.
- Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or proven market evidence is required.
- Applicants must comply with financial, regulatory, and environmental standards.
Applications close on January 12, 2025.
