NOS 5G Fund invests in Portuguese startup Coreflux

The NOS 5G Fund is backing Coreflux, a startup from Porto that kicked off in 2023. This is the fund's sixth investment since it started. Coreflux secured €1.2 million in a funding round, with the NOS 5G Fund, handled by Armilar Venture Partners, taking the lead.

Coreflux, headed by CEO Hugo Vaz, is working on tech that handles connections and data for the Internet of Things (IoT). Their setup lets businesses gather, process, and respond to data instantly using a collection of system connectors, brokers, and cloud services.

NOS says that using Coreflux's tech with what 5G can do—like super-fast response times, handling lots of devices, and network slicing—creates possibilities in areas like industry, energy, transportation, and smart city setups. Manuel Ramalho Eanes, who runs the fund, believes that this startup shows how 5G can help boost practical innovation in Portugal.

The NOS 5G Fund was set up in 2019 with €10 million to back research and innovation related to 5G networks.
