If you're looking for a job as an air traffic controller, NAV Portugal is taking applications until February 27 (at 11:59 PM) via their website.
NAV is looking for people aged 18-27 (by December 31, 2025) with a bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) from a Portuguese institution (or one that the Ministry of Education recognizes). You'll also need to be good at Portuguese and English and have the right psychotechnical and psychological skills for the job.
To get the job, you'll need to pass a tough selection process. First, you'll take the FEAST tests from EUROCONTROL to check your thinking skills. Then, there are tests for behavior, psychology, and language, plus an interview and medical exams. They'll pick 24 people based on the results and create a reserve list.
If you get selected, you'll train at the NAV Academy for about 16 months to get your Student Air Traffic Controller License. The training is split into two groups of 12, starting in March/April 2027 and September/October 2027. After that, you'll have 6-12 months of on-the-job training to get your full Air Traffic Controller License.
While you're training, you'll get a monthly allowance for food and insurance for accidents. During the internship, you'll be paid according to the law. Once you're a Company Assistant (CTA), your pay and conditions will be based on your contract and the Company Agreement.
NAV Portugal has about 1,000 employees, including about 385 air traffic controllers.
