Natixis Portugal: Seven Years of Growth and Excellence in Fintech

In just seven years, Natixis Portugal has grown from a small team of around 100 employees to over 2,500 people.

This fast growth has helped the company become a center of excellence in banking and technology. This success has come from HR policies that focus on training, innovation, feedback, and flexible benefits.

Natixis was founded in Porto in 2017 with a goal of reaching 600 employees in three years.

But they reached that goal much quicker. Today, it is a key part of Groupe BPCE, one of France’s biggest banking groups. The company is known for its advanced financial solutions and strong focus on technology. In 2023, it had a turnover of about €133 million.

Natixis Portugal also acts as an innovation center.

It has a diverse team of over 40 different nationalities. About 20% of the employees are from other countries, including Portugal, France, Italy, Tunisia, Brazil, India, and many others. According to HR Director Maurício Marques, this mix brings in different skills and global standards, which helps in better understanding and connecting with clients.

Employee well-being is a big part of Natixis’ approach.

The company encourages feedback and ongoing development, and offers benefits that are tailored to individual needs. Programs like the Honolulu Wellness Club support physical and mental health. Training covers a range of areas including technical skills, leadership, soft skills, and language learning in Portuguese, English, and French. Tech Dojos and university partnerships also help in skill development and career growth.

AI is already being used in certain processes to automate tasks and let employees focus more on creative and strategic work.

The company is also planning to use AI more widely across all areas for a smoother shift to this new way of working.

Natixis also cares about sustainability and social responsibility.

After winning an award at the Luso-French Trophies in 2021, the company started initiatives like Climate School, My Green Footprint, and the Natixis Urban Garden to encourage employees to take part in building a greener future.

Looking ahead, Natixis plans to keep growing in Porto.

They want to strengthen their expertise in the center and support local job opportunities through training and development programs.
