Portuguese pet tech startups Maven Pet and Purrmi have joined forces to create a 250 m² Pet Hub in downtown Porto, aiming to welcome other pet-focused startups. The shared space accommodates around 80 people and combines clinical expertise, AI, and hardware/IoT development, fostering collaboration between veterinary professionals and tech teams.
Maven Pet, which developed AI-Vet to detect early health changes in dogs and cats via smart collars, has raised €8.2 million since 2021 and expanded partnerships with retailers like Sonae’s Zu store chain. Purrmi, meanwhile, produces 100% natural cat food and is preparing for international expansion to Italy, France, and Northern Europe in 2026.
The Pet Hub will host workshops, applied research, and technical events focused on animal health, nutrition, remote diagnostics, wearables, and telehealth. By combining clinical and technological expertise, Maven and Purrmi aim to accelerate innovation in the Portuguese pet tech ecosystem and invite other startups to join and share knowledge.
