Mastercard will host the Innovation Forum 2025 on September 10 at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion in Lisbon, bringing together experts to debate the future of payments. The event, held under the theme “Racing Towards the Future”, will address key topics such as tokenization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital identity, and new commerce channels.
According to Nuno Loureiro, Mastercard’s country manager in Portugal, the company’s mission is to accelerate innovation and strengthen partnerships, consolidating Portugal as a strategic hub for digital payments. Mastercard employs hundreds of professionals of more than 20 nationalities in the country, developing solutions for both the local and global markets.
As Mastercard expands its global ties—most visibly through its partnership with the McLaren Racing Team, which will become McLaren Mastercard F1 Team in 2026—the Lisbon forum is set to showcase how technologies like AI-driven Agentic Pay, tokenization, and passkeys are reshaping consumer and business experiences. Loureiro emphasizes that the “race for the future of payments” has already started, and Mastercard aims to set the pace.
