Madalena Cascais Tomé to Step Down as CEO of SIBS After 11 Years, Joins Worldline

After nearly 11 remarkable years leading SIBS, Madalena Cascais Tomé will step down as CEO this September. Reflecting on her tenure, she expresses immense pride and gratitude for transforming SIBS into a global leader in digital payments and trusted services.

Under her leadership, SIBS launched MB WAY, now used by over 6.5 million people and interoperable across Europe, strengthening the continent’s payment sovereignty. The company expanded internationally with SIBS ROMANIA and PayTel, and innovated in areas like ESG, digital identity (SIBS Multicert), and financial flow optimization solutions.

Today, SIBS serves millions across four continents, delivering secure, innovative digital solutions that add significant value to clients and improve users’ everyday lives — a legacy Madalena cherishes deeply.

Starting October 1st, she will join Worldline, Europe’s payments champion, as Head of Financial Services and a member of the Executive Committee. She sees payments as the economic lifeblood and recognizes Europe’s strategic focus on scaling its payment infrastructure, solutions, and innovation with trust and sovereignty at the core.

Madalena is excited to continue this mission at Worldline, helping shape the future of payments across Europe with real impact on financial services and daily life.

Her call to action: “Let’s unleash Europe’s payment power. Let’s innovate, grow, and achieve more — together.”
