Global technology company Intellias has announced the Intelligent Chess Challenge, the first-ever chess tournament for tech professionals held in the metaverse. Taking place on 15–16 November 2025, the event will gather 1,000 participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas for two days of high-level competition.
The tournament celebrates the shared values of chess and technology—logic, skill, and strategic thinking—which also drive innovation in artificial intelligence. Chess has long been part of Intellias’ internal culture: this marks the 11th edition of the company’s annual tournament, now expanding globally and entering the metaverse for the first time.
The event includes two stages: nine rapid rounds on Chess.com on day one, followed by nine final rounds in the metaverse for the top 120 players. Participation is open to professionals working in tech-related roles across all departments, as well as software engineers in other industries. The competition is free to join, with registration open until 6 November. Winners will receive Amazon gift cards—£500 for the champion and £250 for each runner-up.
