Indra invests €20M in Spanish drone factory through Edge partnership

Indra Group and Edge are creating a new Spanish company to manufacture advanced defense systems, investing €20 million in a drone factory in Villadangos de Páramo (León) and creating over 200 jobs. The unit will produce attack munitions and smart weapons for European defense programs, supporting the full lifecycle of these systems while meeting European sovereignty requirements.

“This initiative positions Indra as a European leader in drones and precision strike munitions,” said José Vicente de Los Mozos, Indra CEO. Edge’s Hamad Al Marar emphasized the partnership’s role in expanding national production and building long-term industrial capabilities in Europe.

Separately, Indra plans a new factory in Valladolid for drone micromotors, reinforcing its aerospace leadership. Indra, present in Portugal since 1997 with offices in Lisbon, Porto, and Amarante, employs around 1,000 people across defense, aerospace, mobility, and IT sectors.
