Geotab Acquires Verizon Connect’s Telematics Business in Europe and Australia

Geotab has acquired the commercial operations of Verizon Connect’s telematics business across nine markets: the UK, Ireland, Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Australia. The financial terms remain undisclosed.

The deal significantly expands Geotab’s global presence, especially within the small to mid-sized fleet segment — an area the company considers strategically critical. The acquisition excludes Verizon Connect’s product, engineering and other non-sales teams, but more than 400 employees from Europe and Australia will join Geotab.

Neil Cawse, Geotab’s founder, president and CEO, called the acquisition a “pivotal moment” for both the company and the wider connected-vehicle industry. He emphasized that integrating Verizon Connect’s regional teams strengthens Geotab’s commitment to serving diverse fleet needs. He also highlighted the benefits for customers, including greater efficiency, safety and sustainability.

The integration will be led by Matthew Kassel, senior vice-president for strategic acquisitions and integration. Geotab says existing Verizon Connect customers should expect a smooth transition. Current users will retain access to the Reveal platform for up to 18 months and will be able to expand their services during that period, though no new customers will be added to the platform.

The acquisition caps a milestone year for Geotab, which is celebrating 25 years in business, surpassing five million connected vehicles under subscription worldwide, and achieving 95% growth in the UK backed by new products and major fleet partnerships with Sixt and Tarmac.
