French regulators have raided auditing firms to check for unfair competition, according to Reuters. The Big Four-Deloitte, KPMG, EY, and PwC-are being looked at.
The Competition Authority said they did surprise inspections to grab documents but didn't give more details or name names. Deloitte didn't comment, and KPMG, EY, and PwC didn't reply.
The Big Four are on top in auditing and certification, not just in France but also in places like Portugal. A 2024/2025 report says Deloitte, EY, KPMG, PwC, plus BDO and Forvis Mazars, handle about 54% of the money PIE auditors make in Portugal.
