Foundever, a call center company with 3,700 employees in Portugal, has laid off 300 workers following the completion of a project supporting a French client. The company explained that the layoffs were due to the expiration of fixed-term contracts for employees involved in the project.
Previously known as Sitel Group, Foundever operates in Lisbon and Porto, providing multilingual customer support. The company stated that its industry requires constant adaptation to market changes.
The layoffs have raised concerns, with the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) questioning the legality of the short notice given to employees, while the National Union of Telecommunications and Audiovisual Workers (SINTTAV) reported complaints about the abrupt notifications. Foundever maintains that it complied with all labor laws and provided necessary support to affected workers.
