Casais Launches Second Phase of Minho Innovation & Technology Hub

Casais Group has kicked off the second phase of the Minho Innovation & Technology Hub (MITH) in Guimarães, expanding the project with new residential, commercial, and service infrastructure. Using CREE’s hybrid wood-and-concrete system, the development aims to speed up construction while cutting carbon emissions. This stage includes around 450 housing units, a service and commercial building, and an advanced innovation hub, with full completion planned for 2033.

The project combines living and working spaces designed to foster collaboration between companies, universities, and startups. Cycle paths and sustainable features make the hub a model community. “This phase realizes the expansion of the hub, creating conditions for companies, the University, and the community to coexist in an integrated space,” said Casais CEO António Carlos Rodrigues.

Partners include the University of Minho, Guimarães City Council, TECMINHO, and SITIO. The phase will also host Portugal’s National Center for Advanced Computing, home to the AI Factory linked to the Deucalion supercomputer, opening new research and market opportunities.
