Braga has officially become the cornerstone of Bosch’s global mobility strategy. Following a recent investment of €25–30 million, the factory has doubled its capacity to six industrial lines. This expansion solidifies its position as the Largest Bosch radar factory worldwide Braga, producing 38,000 units per day for over 20 global clients.
As often discussed at major IT events in Portugal, this facility marks a shift where the country is no longer a manufacturing site but the "lead plant" for high-tech global innovation.
Innovation Milestones at the Braga Facility:
- Exclusive Production: Braga is the only factory in the world producing the 6th generation radar, the first Bosch radar launched entirely outside of Germany.
- Massive Scale: The unit is on track to produce 10 million radars this year. In Q1 2026, volume already reached 40% of the entire previous year's output.
- Safety First: By late 2026, mass production begins for "Cabin Sensing"—an interior radar designed to detect occupants and prevent infants from being left in vehicles.
- The 2027 Roadmap: The Bosch Braga radar production expansion 2026 is paving the way for the 7th generation radar, featuring an in-house "System on Chip" developed by Bosch engineers.
Why Radar is Dominating the Market
Unlike cameras, Bosch’s radar systems function perfectly in fog, heavy rain, and total darkness. This reliability is why the world's leading IT companies in Portugal and global automotive giants (VW, BMW, Tesla) are increasingly prioritizing Braga-made sensors for autonomous driving.
With the R&D center in Sequeira actively recruiting, Bosch Portugal is proving that the combination of AI and hardware excellence is the true driver of future mobility.
