Bondalti has started operations of a new generation of electrolysers at its Estarreja industrial unit, completing a three-year conversion project.
The nine new units, developed with CAC ENGINEERING GMBH and equipped with cutting-edge Asahi Kasei chlor-alkali electrolysis technology, deliver significant gains in energy efficiency and reliability. This investment reinforces Bondalti’s position as the Iberian leader in chlor-alkali production.
The modernization is also a key step in Bondalti’s decarbonization roadmap: reducing scope 1 emissions by 50% and achieving 100% scope 2 emission reduction by 2030 (vs. 2005). Co-financed by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the project strengthens the company’s vision of sustainable innovation and responsible chemical production.
