Autodesk cuts 7% of workforce to focus on AI and cloud

Autodesk is cutting around 1,000 jobs, which is about 7% of their employees all over the world. They're doing this to put more money into their cloud platform and AI projects.

These job cuts will mostly affect the sales teams that deal with customers. This is the last step in the company's plan to improve its sales and marketing.

Autodesk, known for tools like AutoCAD for 3D design, animation, and visual effects, is changing how it does business. Instead of focusing on traditional sales methods, it's moving to a system where customers pay based on subscriptions and how much they use the software. The company thinks these changes will cost them between $135–160 million. They want to finish this plan by the end of 2027. They also expect to make more money and have better profits in 2026 than they previously thought.
