Tekever, Europe’s drone reconnaissance champion, is setting its sights on the US. CEO Ricardo Mendes explains that the company is practically doubling its turnover each year and aims to hit 1,200 employees by the end of 2025. Known for its “computers with wings”—innovative drones already used by the British Army in Ukraine—Tekever began in 2001 with a group of Técnico engineers. Originally focused on network software, a strategic pivot in 2009 launched its journey into unmanned aerial systems. Now with offices in Portugal, the UK, France, and the US, Tekever uses agile methods in both software and hardware to stay ahead. A recent €70 million Series B, led by Baillie Gifford and strategic partners, is powering its US tech development and manufacturing ambitions.
