Teka Portugal’s President Welcomes New Era Amid Midea-Led Restructuring

Teka Portugal’s president, Luís Leitão, says he’s “excited” about the company’s upcoming restructuring, following Chinese giant Midea’s entry into its shareholder base. Speaking to Lusa, Leitão praised the move as a “very interesting process” that will bring new scale to the group, although he stayed tight-lipped about the future of the Ílhavo factory.

Midea’s arrival comes as Teka operates three production sites across the Iberian Peninsula — Santander, Zaragoza, and Ílhavo. Reports from Spanish media suggested the Ílhavo plant, employing around 260 people, could be impacted by restructuring plans. But Leitão expressed surprise at such claims, stressing that Teka Portugal has no confirmation of any changes. "For us, it’s a surprise," he said, adding that the measures reported earlier "were not confirmed" by the company.
