Relex Solutions Announces Restructuring Due to AI Shift

Finnish software company Relex is starting the largest change negotiations in its history. The company plans to reduce its workforce by 288 employees. This decision comes as the Relex Solutions AI strategy 2026 moves toward a more automated, AI-driven model for software development.

The negotiations affect 722 employees in Finland, mostly within the product development teams. Relex stated that the revolutionary impact of artificial intelligence has changed how they build and maintain their software.

Adapting the Unified Planning Platform

Relex is known for its Relex Solutions unified planning platform. This system helps retailers automate supply chains and predict store replenishment. While the company raised 500 million euros in 2022 to develop these AI tools, those same investments are now reducing the need for human labor.

This strategy is part of a larger trend recently highlighted in IT news in Portugal. More companies are shifting from human-led coding to AI-native development to increase efficiency.

The Future of Tech Talent

Despite the layoffs, the transition to AI-native systems is creating a demand for different types of expertise. As part of the Relex change negotiations 2026, the company is restructuring to stay competitive in the global market.

These industry-wide shifts are being analyzed at major IT events in Portugal. Tech leaders are discussing how to retrain professionals to work alongside autonomous AI agents rather than performing manual tasks.
