As part of a cost-saving effort, Oracle plans to let go of 254 workers in its San Francisco Bay Area offices. The cuts will impact 187 positions in Redwood City, 36 in Pleasanton, and 31 in Santa Clara, hitting Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AI, and machine learning teams.
This move follows a pattern of US tech companies trying to control expenses as they invest in growing fields such as generative AI. Documents filed with California show that these layoffs will begin in the next few weeks. Oracle has not made an additional statement.
