Mailchimp Introduces AI Tools, SMS Marketing to Portugal

Intuit Mailchimp has released some new AI features aimed at improving e-commerce marketing. It's also bringing its SMS marketing services to Portugal, expanding to 34 markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

This move shows a focus on the Portuguese market, giving small and medium-sized enterprises in the area new ways to compete using automation and combined data.

📲 SMS Marketing Arrives in Portugal

Businesses can now reach customers directly through text messages, with options like:

- SMS pop-ups for opting in and data collection forms that require consent

- Unique discount codes in automated campaigns

- Better transactional messaging through an API, providing real-time order updates and important alerts

Many Portuguese businesses depended on email before now. SMS offers a faster way to connect—directly to the customer's phone.

🤖 AI + Combined Data = Better Growth

- Mailchimp is also working on a common problem for e-commerce: scattered data.

- New integrations with Shopify, Yotpo, and Judge.me bring together customer behavior, purchase history, and opinions into one place.

AI helps businesses with:

- Finding valuable customers

- Spotting customers who might leave

- Improving when and how campaigns are targeted

ChatGPT integration helps with creating and improving content for different marketing channels, which saves time and keeps things consistent.

📊 Initial Results Look Good

According to Intuit Mailchimp, the impact is already clear:

- E-commerce clients are seeing returns of up to 30 times their investment

- The first SMS campaign is generating returns of up to 22 times the investment

- An average of 16 hours per week is saved on content creation

- Businesses connected to Shopify are reporting up to $41 back for every $1 spent

The new omnichannel marketing dashboard and simpler tools for switching over started rolling out worldwide on February 10 for certain plans.

Ciarán Quilty, a Senior Vice President at Intuit, says that using these tools is not just an easy choice now; it’s essential for growth tomorrow.
