Intel and TSMC Reportedly Form Joint Chipmaking Venture

Semiconductor powerhouses Intel and TSMC are said to be launching a joint venture to operate Intel’s chipmaking facilities, according to The Information. Under the reported agreement, TSMC would take a 20% stake—not with cash, but by sharing advanced chipmaking expertise and training Intel’s workforce.

The talks were reportedly encouraged by the Trump administration to support Intel’s turnaround and avoid large-scale layoffs. The news follows closely on the heels of Lip-Bu Tan’s appointment as Intel CEO, with expectations of bold restructuring moves.

TSMC has declined to comment, and Intel has not yet responded to inquiries.
