IBM to Cut Jobs Amid Shift Toward Software Growth

IBM is planning to lay off thousands of workers this quarter as it shifts its focus to areas with more growth, like software and services. The number of affected employees will be a "low single-digit percentage" of its total 270,000 global workforce, according to a company representative.

This decision supports IBM’s plan to grow its software and services business, especially through its Red Hat and HashiCorp units.

The company says these workforce adjustments are part of regular reviews and are made to help meet business goals.
