Google brings free AI tools to university students in Portugal

Google is offering free access to its top AI tools to university students in Portugal for one year. This is part of a bigger plan called Google AI Pro, which is being rolled out around the world. The goal is to help students build important AI skills and get ready for their future jobs.

Students who are 18 years or older can sign up by December 9.

They will get tools like Gemini 2.5 Pro, which helps with writing and research, and NotebookLM, a tool to organize notes with audio and video summaries. Other tools include Veo 3, which makes short videos from text or pictures, and Nano Banana, a creative tool for changing images. Students also get 2 TB of storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail.

Along with the tools, Google has introduced Guided Learning, a new feature from Gemini that helps students with tough tasks through simple, step-by-step instructions.

The company has also created Gemini for Education and is working with universities worldwide to improve AI knowledge and how it’s used in teaching. This initiative shows Google’s effort to make AI learning easier, more personal, and more creative for everyone.
