The Galician regional government (Xunta) is directing €40 million in public investment to advance the regional aerospace, security, and defense sectors. Visiting Vig-Sec Drone in Nigrán, Minister of Economy and Industry María Jesús Lorenzana highlighted that partnership agreement proposals remain open through September 30.
Investment Scope and Strategy
Operating under the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defense and Aerospace (IESDA), the measure utilizes pre-commercial public procurement to back projects in advanced development stages. IESDA targets a total investment reach of €900 million to expand regional tech companies and create new tech jobs across key industries.
Key objectives of the initiative include:
- Funding local development and manufacturing of specialized aeronautical, security, and defense solutions.
- Supporting integration for firms working on dual-use technologies with both civilian and military applications.
- Connecting local enterprise talent with broader global networks, including NATO's Defense Innovation Accelerator.
Rollout and Application Deadline
Eligible organizations can apply for Galician defense project subsidies through the active open call until September 30.
