Fujitsu is letting go of 54 workers from its offices in Lisbon and Braga. The company started a process to lay off these employees as part of a group dismissal. On September 12, they sent a message to their staff explaining that there has been a decrease in the number of services they are contracted to provide. This has led to less work in several areas, and now some jobs are no longer needed.
Fujitsu looked for other ways to move employees within the company but didn’t find any good options.
They say these layoffs are necessary to reorganize the company and use resources more wisely. The dismissals will happen between October 31 and December 15, with the exact date depending on how long the employees have been working there. The company will pay the affected workers according to their salary and how long they have worked, as required by law.
Fujitsu has been in Portugal for over 46 years.
They have their main office in Lisbon and a skills center in Braga since 2016. They did not reply to questions about this decision.
