SAPO Blogs, a long-standing blogging platform in Portugal, is closing down for good in 2026, after 23 years. Users are getting the news by email.
Launched in 2003, SAPO Blogs made it easy for anyone to publish online, back when personal websites were hard to create. It became home to many personal stories and opinions. But with the rise of social media and smartphones, how people consume content has changed, and blogs aren't as popular as they once were.
Important dates for users:
- June 30, 2026 – You won't be able to post or edit anymore. The site will be in read-only mode so you can still view and download your stuff.
- November 30, 2026 – All content will be deleted for good.
Users should download their posts and images before the final date.
This closure is the end of a platform that played a big part in Portugal’s online world for more than 20 years.
