Role
We are looking for an experienced AI Privacy Engineer to join a strategic AI transformation initiative within a global organization.
In this role, you will act as the bridge between AI delivery teams, engineering, security, and data protection functions, ensuring that AI solutions are designed, developed, and operated in compliance with GDPR, the EU AI Act, and internal governance frameworks.
You will play a key role in embedding Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles across AI platforms, agent-based systems, Generative AI solutions, and enterprise AI tooling.
Responsibilities
- Translate GDPR, EU AI Act, and internal data protection requirements into practical technical controls and implementation guidelines;
- Perform Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and AI risk assessments for AI solutions and platforms;
- Ensure Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles are embedded throughout the AI development lifecycle;
- Collaborate closely with AI Engineers, Security teams, Platform Engineers, and Product teams to implement privacy controls at scale;
- Review AI architectures, data flows, and processing activities to identify privacy and compliance risks;
- Define and track mitigation plans for privacy-related risks and compliance gaps;
- Support the implementation of data minimization, retention, transparency, lawful basis, and purpose limitation requirements;
- Maintain documentation related to AI systems, data processing activities, controls, and compliance evidence;
- Act as the primary privacy point of contact for AI use cases and provide recommendations on go/no-go decisions;
- Support the handling of data subject rights requests and privacy incidents involving AI systems;
- Contribute to AI governance initiatives and help establish scalable privacy processes across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience), combined with experience in Data Protection, Privacy, Technology Law, or AI Governance. Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT are highly valued.
- 3+ years of experience in Privacy Engineering, Data Protection, AI Governance, Compliance, Cybersecurity Governance, or related fields;
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and European data protection principles;
- Experience conducting DPIAs and privacy risk assessments;
- Understanding of AI and Generative AI technologies, including:
- Experience working with cross-functional teams involving engineering, legal, compliance, and security stakeholders;
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills;
- Ability to challenge solution designs while maintaining a pragmatic and business-oriented mindset;
- Fluent English.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI platforms;
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot or enterprise AI adoption programs;
- Familiarity with the EU AI Act and AI governance frameworks;
- Experience in multinational or multi-country environments;
- Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, ISO 27701, ISO 27001, or equivalent;
- Background in Privacy Engineering, AI Security, Risk Management, or Data Governance.
