About the role/team:

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Technical Product Manager to join our Content and Channels Personalization team. This role will be based in our office in Lisbon, Portugal, and is a hybrid role. In this key position, we are seeking someone who is super technical but obsessively customer-focused. You will be responsible for Iterable’s mobile and web SDKs as a central surface of the platform, ensuring they set a high standard for developer experience, reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

Our SDKs are central to how customers capture real-time signals, identify users, and execute orchestrated experiences across multiple channels. As such, this role sits at the intersection of developer experience, system reliability, and customer value, requiring strong technical judgment and a platform mindset.

Additionally, you will be responsible not only for delivering features but also for managing the SDK lifecycle, including versioning strategy, backward compatibility, planning for deprecation, and safely introducing disruptive changes.

Our Product team thrives on collaboration with Design and Engineering, always prioritizing user empathy. You will be here, working side by side and directly with our customers, to identify and prioritize product features that will significantly impact Iterable’s business. You will be responsible for a broad product portfolio and its roadmap, continuously delivering innovative and delightful experiences to our customers. This role requires deep technical expertise and a willingness to work closely with Engineering, Customer Success, and our Solutions team.

You will feel extremely comfortable working with APIs and SDKs while also being equally passionate about usability. You will work closely with design on user experience and how customers interact with our product, directly impacting the developer experience as they integrate our platform. You will report to the PM of the Content and Channels Personalization groups.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Define and evolve the long-term strategy for Iterable’s mobile and web SDKs, balancing innovation and stability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure the SDKs meet enterprise standards for reliability, performance, and scalability.
  • Drive improvements in developer productivity, integration speed, and time to value for customers.
  • Make informed decisions between parity, platform consistency, and differentiated innovation.
  • Be the unwavering 'voice of the customer' within the organization.
  • Work closely with Customer Success, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and other PMs to launch excellent products.
  • Understand customer profiles and use cases to define precise product requirements and deliver new features and enhancements.
  • Develop comprehensive use cases and determine product specifications to launch new features and improvements.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of customer needs and product functionality.
  • Research industry trends to uncover product features and innovative opportunities.

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Experience as a Senior Product Manager, managing a complex technical platform focused on customers or developers (e.g., SDKs, APIs, infrastructure-related products).
  • Experience managing products with strong backward compatibility and lifecycle constraints.
  • Proven ability to collaborate deeply with engineering on technical choices and system design.
  • Experience serving large-scale enterprise customers, including concerns about performance and reliability.
  • Experience with mobile technologies, including native development (iOS and Android) and cross-platform (React Native, Flutter).
  • Experience working in agile Engineering teams using tools like JIRA.
  • Strong skills in user testing and data analysis.
  • Experience making informed decisions based on business and technical data.
  • Comfort and adaptability in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Exceptional ability to solve complex technical problems and collaborate with engineering to translate customer needs.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with user growth and engagement strategies.
  • Experience with data analysis tools to gain insights.
  • Previous experience in B2B and B2C markets.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with mobile and web application development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, product, and design to conceive and build new product features.
  • Take personal responsibility for the entire project lifecycle, from design and engineering planning to successful development, implementation, and production.
  • Develop solutions to scale a complex platform that reaches millions of users.
  • Contribute to the code review process by offering suggestions for improvements, helping to establish and enforce coding standards.
  • Leverage design discussions and other team interactions as an opportunity to elevate your team and the product.

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in software development.
  • Relevant experience in building scalable, production-ready web applications.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (ideally Scala and/or Java).
  • Extensive experience with Elasticsearch and/or other relevant technologies such as Postgres.
  • Desire to work in a highly remote/distributed but collaborative environment. (Iterable has offices in San Francisco, Denver, and New York, but the vast majority of Engineering has chosen to work remotely.)
  • Willingness to take on call responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Authorization to work legally in the EU.
