Senior Power BI Developer – Data Analytics

Porto-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).
As a Senior Power BI Developer, you will be working for our client, a forward-thinking organization dedicated to transforming data into actionable business intelligence. You will lead end-to-end Power BI projects, working closely with stakeholders to craft scalable dashboards, optimize data models, and shape best practices in visualization. Your main responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with evolving business needs.
- Take ownership of reporting projects from requirements gathering through delivery.
- Build and optimize data models (star schema, relationships, measures).
- Develop advanced calculations using DAX to support complex analytics.
- Perform data transformation and preparation using Power Query (M).
- Ensure report performance optimization and scalability.
- Define and implement best practices in data visualization (UX/UI, storytelling).
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions.
- Maintain data quality, consistency, and reliability across reports.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to dashboards, models, and data refresh processes.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and BI standards improvement.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- 9+ years of experience in Business Intelligence or Data Analytics roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Power BI (Desktop & Service).
- Advanced knowledge of DAX, data modeling concepts (star schema, relationships, measures).
- Experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation.
- Proficient SQL skills and experience working with data warehouses.
- Proven capability to deliver end-to-end BI solutions independently.
- Expertise in performance tuning and report optimization.
- Familiarity with data governance and security practices (e.g., Row-Level Security).
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Experience with Azure (Fabric).
- Knowledge of integrating Power BI with modern data stacks (e.g., dbt, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Experience with paginated reports (Power BI Report Builder).
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes for BI deployments.
- Exposure to data storytelling aligned with business strategy.
