Junior application support engineer – linux/windows systems

Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (3 days remote per week).

As a Junior Application Support Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading organization dedicated to maintaining and optimizing mission-critical applications. You will play a vital role in ensuring smooth technical operations, helping to deliver resilient and high-performing systems that support business success and transformation.

Your main responsibilities:

• Manage and resolve production incidents efficiently to minimize downtime.
• Coordinate and oversee disaster recovery procedures to safeguard critical data.
• Collaborate with development, sysadmin, and network teams to implement and manage application and infrastructure changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of application architecture and operational procedures.
• Conduct regular backup and restore tests to ensure data integrity.
• Monitor applications and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with SLAs.
• Optimize application load capacity and contribute to process automation initiatives.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• 2+ years of experience in application support or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Control-M or other industrial schedulers.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of databases and infrastructure backups.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Elastic Stack.
• Solid understanding of networking, LDAP, and security tools including Firewalls, Active Directory, and Kerberos.

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Certifications in relevant technologies or frameworks.

Language Required for the role:

• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
