Portugal-based opportunity with hybrid (up to 5 remote days/week) work model.
As an Expert SaaS & Cloud Operations Manager, you will be working for our client in the banking and financial services sector, owning the operational scope of all SaaS integrations and business-critical applications. Your expertise will drive stable operations, rapid incident recovery, and measurable service reliability by blending ITIL best practices with advanced monitoring and observability in a modern, cloud-native landscape. Your main responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end operations for all SaaS integrations and applications, focusing on availability, performance, and incident resolution.
- Coordinate major incidents to restore services swiftly, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Execute ITIL processes encompassing incident, problem, change, and event management.
- Manage the full application lifecycle including onboarding, configuration, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
- Monitor health and resilience of mission-critical applications and underlying infrastructure.
- Ensure comprehensive monitoring and observability across infrastructure and applications, utilizing centralized logging, alerting, KPIs, and dashboards.
- Manage SaaS vendor relationships, SLAs, escalations, and collaborate with development/DevOps teams on deployment and resilience strategies.
You’re ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 7 years of IT operations experience in a regulated industry, ideally banking or financial services.
- Proven hands-on experience managing SaaS applications throughout their lifecycle and integrating them with internal and external systems.
- Strong background supporting business-critical, highly available applications and infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, problem, change, event); certification is advantageous.
- Practical experience with shift-based / 24/7 support models.
- Expertise in monitoring & observability tools, centralized logging, and alerting systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of the solution stack: REST, SOAP, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, SFTP, Kong Connect; Java, Spring Boot, Kamelets.
- Solid experience working with AWS services: EKS, S3, RDS (PostgreSQL), ECR, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.
- Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or similar.
- Good understanding of typical banking IT landscapes and their availability requirements.
