We are looking for brilliant Fullstack Java Heroes to join our team
Critical TechWorks operates at the forefront of BMW Group technologies. We develop, deliver, and operate the systems that enable BMW to build, sell, and distribute vehicles, as well as onboard systems that create unique driving experiences. We help build the automotive platform, as well as applications such as navigation systems, driver assistance, customization, and entertainment. - Full Stack Development: Working across the stack, from creating interactive interfaces with modern JavaScript frameworks to developing robust back-end services in Java.
- Database Integration: Integrating Java applications with databases like PostgreSQL or MongoDB, ensuring smooth data flow and storage.
- Participation in Agile Methodology: Actively participating in Scrum events, contributing to the agile development process.
- Code Quality Assurance: Implementing best practices for clean, testable, and efficient code, including unit tests and code reviews.
- Collaboration in Problem Solving: Working with other developers, product owners, and designers to think and implement effective solutions for complex software challenges.
- Continuous Integration and Implementation: Interacting with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or Git to automate the building, testing, and deployment of Java applications.
This is a Rockstar Developer role, our approach to the classic Software Developer.
Serving as the backbone of Critical TechWorks, this role plays a crucial part in designing, developing, building, testing, implementing, and maintaining our product. You can learn more - and check out other Development vacancies - at this link.
Regardless of what you are working on, here are the technical skills you likely possess:
- At least 2 years of experience using Java.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (specialization in Angular, React, or Vue.js is a plus).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Microservices Architecture, Cloud Architecture, and Container Architecture.
- Desirable knowledge in domain-driven design, event sourcing, reactive programming, automated testing, and security.
- Experience in developing Java UI applications following design principles, patterns, and best practices.
- Familiarity with various architectural concepts like Cloud, Microservices, Containers, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience in analyzing and improving application performance and resource utilization across the stack.

- Embrace agile practices, especially Scrum, leveraging its events to foster a high-performing team.
- Be multifunctional, developing new skills to enable a team that covers the entire product lifecycle.
- Apply standard engineering practices using tools like version control, IDEs, and dashboards for organized development.
- Adopt best DevOps practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to build, test, and deploy reliable software.
- Operate the software after deployment, including outside of working hours if necessary (additional compensation applies).
- Occasionally travel abroad to support all phases of product development.
- Have excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of German is a plus.
