[PT] Advanced Digital Embroidery Workshop and Digital Project Editing
Time: 10:30 am - 5:30 pm (with a 1-hour lunch break)
For creative minds that want to take embroidery to a new level! Come learn about digital embroidery and explore a versatile technology for design, art, fashion, and much more.
In this workshop, we will review the principles of digital embroidery and delve into drawing, editing, and embroidery techniques with the Brother Innov-is NV2600 machine. Participants will use these skills to develop their own project in the Ink/Stitch module of Inkscape. Thus, you will learn to parametrize your projects and even draw electronic circuits for embroidery (using conductive thread for this!).
Additionally, we will have tests of embroidery on innovative biomaterials — such as alginate, kombucha leather, and gelatin-based leather — to explore the potential of sustainable materials in embroidery!
Benefits: Participating in the workshop entitles you to use the machine free of charge on the open days of BioLab Lisboa (Thursdays) by prior appointment.
Language: The workshop will be in English, with functional Portuguese explanations upon request.
Instructor: Justine Latour is a designer from Toronto with a background in fashion and textiles, design, and production. Her approach focuses on slow fashion and the exploration of innovative materials and technologies, promoting responsible creation and consumption.
Conditions: The price includes all necessary materials for embroidery. Participants can bring their own fabric or clothing to personalize.
Important: Bring a laptop with Inkscape installed (free), preferably with the Ink/Stitch module already configured.
The price of the tickets is the responsibility of the instructor and is fully reverted to her.
