Siemens Unfazed by Talent Shortage, Plans to Hire 200 More in Portugal

Despite ongoing concerns in the tech industry over talent scarcity, Siemens Portugal shows no signs of slowing down. In an interview with Jornal Económico, Pedro Henriques, who has led the company’s Human Resources department for 26 years, confirmed that Siemens plans to hire an additional 200 professionals in 2025 — on top of the 300 it added last year.

From his perspective, the challenge of recruiting qualified talent hasn’t hindered progress. “I don’t know of any project that hasn’t moved forward because we don’t have the people — and the things we do here aren’t easy,” Henriques said.

With a workforce of 4,200 employees in Portugal, Siemens continues to grow across its key business areas: Smart Infrastructures, E-mobility, and Digital Industries, as well as in its Transnational Hubs specializing in IT, Cybersecurity, and Shared Services. The new hires are set to bolster these teams, supporting ongoing and upcoming projects across the board.

Henriques attributes this hiring success to a clear strategy, though details weren’t disclosed. Siemens’ ability to consistently recruit in a competitive market positions it as a standout employer in Portugal’s tech landscape.
