Siemens Corroios Factory Celebrates 30 Years of Innovation in Electric Mobility

In 2025, the Siemens factory in Corroios is marking 30 years of innovation and making a difference.

Since it started in 1995, the facility has grown from making medium- and low-voltage panels to becoming a major center for electric vehicle charging technology. In 2019, the factory changed completely to focus on making DC chargers, showing how quickly Siemens can adapt and push for sustainable solutions.

Now, the Corroios plant has more than 280 workers and four production lines that can create 3,000 units each year.

It also includes teams for research and development, sales, engineering, and customer support that work with clients around the world. Markus Mildner, the CEO, says the plant plays a big role in Siemens’ leadership in charging for fleets and warehouses, calling it a “key player in the future of eMobility. ”

The plant’s reach extends to 30 countries, with solutions used in Europe and Australia.

In Portugal alone, the chargers made at Corroios power about 300 electric buses every day and support 22 ultra-fast charging stations.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Siemens recognized seven employees who have worked at the plant since it opened—honoring a legacy of innovation, hard work, and looking ahead.
