Powerdot Launches Powerlab in Porto to Boost EV Charging Innovation in Europe

Portuguese startup Powerdot has opened Powerlab, an innovation hub in Porto designed to test and integrate advanced electric vehicle charging solutions.

With an initial investment of €500,000 and a 32-strong team, the hub aims to accelerate the company’s growth across Europe and strengthen network reliability.

The center allows Powerdot to trial new charging technologies, gather insights on user behavior, and ensure compatibility with industrial partners, charger manufacturers, and car makers.

Solutions developed in Porto will be rolled out across its network of 10,000 charging points in Portugal, Spain, Poland, Belgium, and beyond.

CEO Luís Santiago Pinto says Powerlab “centralizes testing, R&D, and innovation, helping us differentiate through technology and enhance the driver experience.”

By hosting product teams in Porto, Powerdot underscores Portugal’s strategic role in electric mobility while preparing for potential expansion into new markets.
