According to the Aerospace Phenomena Research Center (CIFA), Portugal saw a surge in reported UFO sightings in 2024, reaching 54 occurrences, a significant increase from 33 the previous year.
Porto led with 12 reports, followed by Lisbon (11), Braga (7), Leiria (4), and Évora and Setúbal (3 each). The annual statistical report also aims to clarify the origins of these sightings, identifying cases linked to satellites, drones, or misinterpretations of natural phenomena.
While UFO reports continue to intrigue the public, CIFA’s analysis helps differentiate unexplained cases from those with logical explanations.
